Entitled mom and her family cut long amusement park line before bystanders shut her down: 'They were eventually escorted out'

As kids, we have formative experiences that shape and influence who and what we want to be when we grow up. Hang a bass guitar around a kid's neck in music class, and you might have just sentenced them to compulsively play an underrated instrument for the rest of their natural life—while their bandmates get all the recognition for their writing, contributions, and skill… no matter what level of playing they ascend to.

You might see a train once at 3 years old and become obsessed with its scale and immense power despite the fact that it can only travel in a predetermined straight line. Going on to shape the rest of your life and identity around these one-directional vehicles. Really, any one of the many experiences you might have in life can become a core part of your identity.

ENTER stage right: Disney adults.

It turns out some people's formative experiences came from watching animated Western movies made by a specific entertainment mega-corporation that has its own fanatical obsession with hoarding copyright.

  • While it might be easy to judge this and call it a little bit strange, it should be said that this is ok—sort of. You should never "Yuck" somebody else's "Yum," and there's a wide range of debatably worse things than the world's largest entertainment corporation that people get fanatical over.

    Still, fandoms tend to attract certain types, and Disney Adults have a reputation for being, well, childish. Though this undoubtedly does not apply to everyone in the fandom, as it often does, the exception often proves the rule.

  • And cutting queues is about as childish as it gets. Especially when you're a parent, all you're doing is setting a bad example for your children. If you happen to think you're more important than everyone else, like this entitled mother and her family seemed to, it's time for a reality check like the one delivered in this story.

Several people are disgruntled and asking what they are doing. Mom claims they forgot something on the ride.     They get shuffled into the pre-ride movie area before my friend and I. We are shocked no one brought it to any of the staffs attention. Meanwhile, all the single riders are trauma bonding over this ladies boldness and entitlement. So when my friend and I get shuffled. into the pre-ride movie area, I tell one of the staff what the lady and her kids looked like, and what she did. He says, at this point since they are already in the line to board the car, he can't do much.

    We make it to the car boarding line and low and behold, there's the lady and her two kids! I stop yet another employee and explain the situation. She says she will let someone know but walks in the opposite direction of the rider operators.     So everyone starts speaking louder, the whole line. What a terrible example to set for your children. What makes them feel so entitled? Everyone is waiting the same, some people for hours, why do they think they're special? Why lie to get what you want? The whole line is loudly speaking so these people know exactly what we think of them. Dad continues to hang back and let people get in front of him as he hangs his head in shame and his family inches closer to the front of the line.

    I had enough at that point. I talked to the people in front of me and asked if I could go let the ride operators know what happened because I'll be damned if they are getting on this ride! I ask the people in front of me to let me warn the ride operators and they were all happy the step aside. Mom is blocking the walkway because they are next up.

You were exactly right to do what you did and I applaud you, but coming away from a day at the parks as a champion of crowd control is hardly what Walt had in mind.

    ElleWinter 17h ago . • I was at Disney in November 2023. While I was waiting in the line for the Haunted Mansion, I think between five and ten people did this. My husband is normally the kindest person, but the "injustice" of these line cutters nearly made his head explode. Next time we have to go, I'm making him get super stoned in advanced to save our sanity.

We don't pay our money for others to think they are more important than everybody else. That family needed to collectively learn the most important lesson: f your entitlement.

    1radiationman 9h ago . . I'm not surprised that the first cast members you spoke with didn't do anything. It wasn't that they didn't care, but in general Disney's policy is to not have confrontations with guests. The last thing Disney wants is video of social media of a cast member having it out with a guest on social media regardless of the reason. With the rest of the guests in the line getting upset and backing you up it gave the cast members "cover" to take action.
