Employee spreads rumors about coworker's promotion being due to favoritism, coworker gets back at her by convincing the entire office she's a liar: ‘Now nobody takes her seriously’

Every workplace has its gossip, it is almost impossible to find an office without one. There is always this one employee who is usually the most valuable source of information around, as they somehow manage to know about everything that is going on, even top secret information that was only talked about behind closed doors (seriously, how do they do that?).

Despite this employee being valuable in that way, there is a thin line between them being useful and being problematic. When one gets used to spreading information around the office, it is not long before they also start spreading rumors that are not necessarily true. Then it is only a matter of time before no one wants to talk to them or divulge any information in fear of it getting out of hand and being spread around like wildfire.

Once the office gossip crosses that line (and they always cross that line), something must be done to stop them from using their power to hurt other employees, and the best way to do so is by giving them a taste of their own medicine. As the song says – 'Everybody talks too much', right?

What we have here is a classic case of the office gossip turning against a coworker by spreading fake information, all because she is jealous of their success. But by using her voice to turn other employees against one coworker who has done nothing to deserve it, she is putting a target on her back.
The funny thing is, it is extremely easy to use the power of words against a Gossip Queen, as the title of this story calls her. And the way this employee did it is so satisfying to read…
