Nature finds a way to thrive, no matter the conditions. Animals adapting to new habitats is nothing new. But when humans come along and change up their environments, animals get a bit confused.

Have you ever had some confused animals in your life? Each year in my family home, a group of sparrows make a nest inside the front porch light. No matter that the lightbulb gets hot when turned on: the better to warm the sparrow eggs, I suppose. Now, how do the sparrows feel about building their home near a walkway? Ah, well, see, they actually would prefer privacy. They'd love it if people could not walk near their nest all the time. So they just start yelling at the top of their little sparrow lungs each time someone enters the front door. Sometimes they even swoop down and get protective of their precious light-turned-nest! It's at this point that one of my family members will take off the light cover, remove all the twigs and leaves making up the nest, and relocate the bird family to the garden. The sparrows feel this is a grave mistake each and every time they're moved. They'll be back within hours to rehome themselves right back into their cozy lightbulb home.

Those sparrows aren't the only birds confused by human activity!
