Our jobs can be all consuming. It isn't just 9-5 for a lot of us, these hours make up most of our days, and ultimately our lives. Our coworkers become our best friends, and our place of work becomes like a second home. There's no getting around it, and if you don't like your job it can greatly and negatively affect your life.

Past the fact that it's so much of our time and day, it's our livelihood. The cost of living has increased so much, and sometimes it can seem impossible to support oneself. Even working multiple jobs barely feels like it's enough to live with other roommates in a stinky apartment on the bad side of town. And don't get me started on the increase in food prices! Whether you're shopping for groceries or going out to eat, things are starting to feel like they truly cost an arm and a leg. Why should eggs and butter be this pricey?

On top of the high cost of living, it seems like there are less and less good jobs out there, and much more competition. In the age of entrepreneurship and the most creativity in the job market, it doesn't mean that everyone gets an equal chance at job opportunities, or keeping them. Being fired is one of the worst feelings in the world. Take it from the protagonist in the story below.

It's unbelievable that a workplace can turn on someone so abruptly. It's so lifechanging and heartbreaking to be fired, it's like a shock to the system, and it can cause someone to go to a very dark place. They could have at least talked to her first, or not tricked her into working so hard.

It may seem petty what she did, but to be fair why didn't they have the passwords? What kind of company is this? Apparently a toxic one since they expected their employee to work twice as hard right before they knew they would fire her. It's selfish and disgusting.
