Welcome back to Cheezcake. Cheating is one of the most painful experiences while in a relationship. It's an obvious fear for everyone, and being betrayed is never excusable. There's a lot of talk about cheating in relationship podcasts, or from popular psychologists. As painful and heartbreaking as it is for the people involved, it's also wildly ubiquitous and far too common. People cheat all the time. Most people in the world have been cheated on or cheated themselves at some point in their life, and everyone has their own reasons and their own story.

Some people cheat for the sake of novelty, the excitement of being with new people. Some people cheat because they've fallen in love with someone else, and simply can't help themselves. Other people cheat because they feel like their relationship isn't giving them what they want. Some cheat because they want to intentionally hurt and betray their partner, they actually want to cause them pain. I think malice is one of the scariest motives behind anything. Once you know someone's malicious, what's stopping them from doing something like that again, or something worse? They get off on other people's pain.

Why do the parent's think he should be involved at all? He has to be the perfect uncle, or something? If they want to help their grandson then they can do that on their own accord. It just doesn't have to do with the protagonist. Plus, he's obviously completely heartbroken and traumatized from the entire experience. Not only did his girlfriend cheat and have a secret relationship, thus breaking his trust, his own brother did too. It's a double whammy, and the parents are being entirely insensitive about the whole situation.
