Well, howdy there, feline fam! We're not sure what we would do if we were allergic to cats. We mean…would there be any reason worth living if we couldn't spend 24/7 with our precious fluffy felines? Luckily, we'll never have to answer that question. We are the opposite of allergic to them, we're so immune to their fur and dander that if we don't take a good whiff of their yummy cat-smell (you know the one we're talking about) then we don't feel that our day is complete.

Not everyone is as lucky as we are, though. Some people are just born allergic to cats, and for those people we feel very sorry. Today's story features a married couple who finds out that the husband is actually allergic to their little living room lions. Now, we can't tell the wife what to do in this situation, but that didn't stop the whole internet from trying.     He's been having allergy issues that have worsened and had an allergy test done today. I already bought a cat food that supposedly can help reduce cat allergens, but any other advice/tips are greatly appreciated.

    Gloomy-Bicycle-157 Hear me out... Buy a chicken. Let chicken and cats hang out. Harvest eggs from said chicken. Feed eggs to cats. Neutralize allergens. How? What? When chickens hang around cats their eggs begin to contain AFD1. When cats eat food with AFD1 it neutralizes the Fel d 1 in the cats saliva which what triggers the allergies in humans. Science.

    Kind-Dust7441 I'm allergic to cats and we have 7, so I know a bit about loving and living with walking, meowing fluffy balls of allergens. I highly recommend Levoit air purifiers with the upgrade of the pet dander filters. We have them all around the house, and they make a world of difference.

    We change our hvac air filter twice monthly. We run a Roomba upstairs and another downstairs every 2-3 days, and use a handheld vacuum (specifically for pet dander- I can't remember the name and I have a cat on my lap so I can't get up to check) on the furniture about as frequently, and we've covered all of the furniture with slipcovers that get washed every two weeks or so.

    Until recently, I took a Zyrtec, Flonase, and eye drops every morning and a Benadryl every night. But someone on this sub pointed out that prolonged use of Benadryl could cause all sorts of problems, so I cut that out. Now I use the Maover saline nasal flush bottle every other morning, and it has changed my life. I only take Zyrtec the days I don't do the flush, and eye drops as needed (maybe once a week). No more Flonase or Benadryl at all.

  • Okay, finally someone gave us some actually useful information. Don't get us wrong, we came here for these ridiculous comments, but we all know that divorce is not a real option (…or is it?). We're glad and we hope that she is actually able to find a solution, allergies are no joke! Have you ever gotten into a sneezing fit? It's terrible. No one should have to live through that daily.
