Mothers in the Aztec civilization were thought of as warriors. They considered giving birth a type of battle, wherein the woman captures the spirit of a newborn to bring it to earth. If a woman were to not make it through childbirth, it is said that their souls would guide the sun through the sky in the afterlife with along fallen warriors. 

Moms all around the world know that the battle does not end after giving birth. It doesn't end after your babies are potty trained, nor does it end when they are old enough to drive. Neither does it end when your "little ones" are greying and married with their own children. It is a lifelong commitment filled with shaky of turbulence and uncertain destinations. The only given is the powerful love between mother and child.   • I was once babysitting a 3-year-old and doing errands for his mom at the same time. We went to a furniture store to pick up something she had ordered, and he had a tantrum because he wanted an industrial light fixture.
