Company forced to pay $6000 to fix tech issue after boss demands sole IT employee deletes his account on his last day at the job: ‘You asked me to do this’

When working at small companies, one often finds oneself taking on responsibilities that have nothing to do with one's job title. And that often happens to those who consider themselves 'tech savvy'.

For some unknown reason, small companies tend to overlook the tech side of running the company, so they fail to hire an employee to run that side. Without an IT worker, there is always at least one somewhat technological employee at the company who finds themselves as the designated IT of the company, even if it has nothing to do with what they were hired to do.

The problem is, well, one of the many problems with this setup, is that no one is actually in charge or responsible for what is going on when it comes to the technological operation of the company. And then when something inevitably goes wrong, who will be there to take accountability and fix it? Because it sure should not be the one employee who never even signed up for the job.
