Boss hires inadequate daughter to replace top employee, employee refuses to train daughter and quits job instead: ‘She's not fit for the job’

If you have connections and can use them to get ahead in your job, you should 100% use them.

Sure, some people may see it as a shortcut, using favoritism or nepotism to your advantage, but the sad reality is that if you don't use every single resource in your disposal, you will always be the one who gets the short end of a stick. Life is hard enough, there's no need to make it harder, so if you can turn to your family or friends for help finding a job, don't overthink it, just do it.

That being said, it can be quite annoying to witness someone else's favoritism and not be able to do anything about it, especially when it directly affects you. Like when your boss hires a family member to do a job they are not qualified for, and as a direct result fires someone who does not deserve it, just like the boss in the story below.

Luckily, his employee proved to him that even favoritism comes with consequences.

  • This employee was a top accountant in her firm, and was highly valued in her job. At least that was until her boss decided to hire his daughter in her place, which led the employee to be forced to quit the job she loved.
