If there is one thing that never fails to make us smile, it's animals adopting other baby animals, and pictures of puppies. Okay, that's two things, but they're both really good things. Anyway, you might be surprised how many animals are willing to adopt animals of a different species. Do they know that they're different? Who knows, but they know that one of them wants to be a pawrent, and the other needs to be taken care of. That is enough of a reason for them to do what they do, and that's good enough for us.

We don't know why some animal moms reject their young, but it happens. Usually, the fate of those animals is not a pretty one, but in this case, Max stepped up to be the mom this baby sheep needed. She raised her as her own, cleaned her, protected her, played with her, and helped her grow up experiencing love of a pawrent.   • Sheep really do have personality! We lived next to a farm when we were growing up, and the baby sheep and cows were always so fun and playful. They were really like puppies!

    morningstarwoollen I think it has to do with instinct. Ewes keep most but everyone once in a while toss a good one... and those a bottle babies - contrary to popular belief can be good mamas - in fact I see no evidence of it being passed along hereditary lines I love my sheep and they are highly instinctual, and can even be affectionate- but they are not highly evolved beyond being sheep.
