Throwing an elaborate, over-the-top almost always backfires in some way. If you're the kind of person who has the resources to spend unnecessary amounts of money, you might spend all the energy leading up to the big day making silly choices that will only make you come across as wealthy and entitled. Chances are most of your guests already know that about you. If there is someone in your life like this, we all know that going for something elegant, tasteful, and subtle is beyond their comprehension.

Another problem with people like this is that they only care about how they're coming across and are likely to surround themselves with obnoxious guests. They might even make promises they cannot keep, like this entitled groom. This guy needed everyone to know how expensive and special his wedding would be… until he needed to cut back and disinvite people!

Imagine getting the call from your friend's mother that your invitation to her son's wedding has now been rescinded because apparently, the venue can no longer accommodate a group of this size. Of course, the entitled groom in question was too embarrassed to handle these phone calls himself, so he went ahead and made his mother personally make all these calls on his behalf. Now, everyone has to know he's irresponsible with his resources and he's too immature to fess up to his own mistakes!
