The worst part about the nonstop, eternal job of being a mother is that you don't even get proper recognition for it. No one stops you on the street to thank you for all your hard work everyday as a mother, raising small children, and being a great wife to your husband. Unfortunately, being a good person in the world isn't interesting, and no one is going to thank you for it. 

But being a good mother is so much more than recognition or praise, it's about love for your child and the instinctual desire to see them happy, healthy, and successful. If you have a parent who doesn't want these qualities in you, it may be time for low contact. Mothers and fathers should want to see the best version of their children, and it's obvious when your parent wants that. There are a lot of messed up people in the world, but your parent is always there for you. A mother will always be there to call when you're sick, or feeling down, or when he dumps you.
