32-year-old wife left speechless when husband plans birthday trip with extended family despite asking her what she wanted beforehand: "I wanted it to be just the two of us"

My boyfriend is really good at getting me birthday gifts, and that is mostly because I tell him exactly what I want, and he delivers. In the first year of our relationship, I tried my best to drop heavy-handed hints about the sorts of things I'd like to receive on my birthday. For example, I really wanted a Miffy lamp, so every time I saw an Instagram reel that featured one, I would forward it to him. Sometimes I'd even add a message like, "Wouldn't one of these look adorable in our living room?"

However, about two months before my birthday, he came clean and confessed he had no idea what to get me, so I told him point blank. This has been our MO since then. It works for us since I don't really like surprises anyway — especially on my birthday.
