One of the most meowgical moments in every cat owner's life is… being chosen by the cat. It's the first moment, the most vital moment, the moment that on cat owner will ever forget. Because it really is that special. Because being chosen by a cat is not something to dismiss, it's an honor. And it doesn't happen to everyone. So, when you walk into the life of a person who already been chosen by a cat, you can only hope and pray that the cat will accept you, let alone choose you. 

But it does happen sometimes. Sometimes, your partner will be chosen by your cat as well. Your boyfriend will win over your cat, or your one night stand will make an impression on your cat, and then… that is it. All illusion of choice is gone. You think that you are asking that woman to be your wife, you think she's saying yes, but in reality, it was written in the stars - the moment the cat chose your partner, that person became yours (or more accurately theirs) for life.

  • Well… we don't know how things are going between you and your boyfriend, but we think that you're supposed to marry him now. Not necessarily because you want too, although that would help, but because his cat chose you, so you can never leave him. It's the only reasonable thing to do in this situation.

    He's my partners childhood cat and is literally older than his human siblings and outlived multiple pets. They got him off a homeless guy on the street. He attacks anyone who touches him.

    Lost_Ad_6204 OP Trying to get him home with us! He lives fully outdoor at my bfs parents so we're attempting to transition him into indoor retirement at our flat but not sure if he'll be too happy in our flat :(

  • Ah, and this is where the indoor/outdoor cat debate gets complicated. Normally, we would say that the best thing to do would be to take the cat in, but for a 20-year-old cat who has lived outside his whole life… the stress of the change might not be worth it. We would consider this very carefully.
