This teenage boy seems really intelligent, and emotionally grounded despite his entire upbringing and emotional baggage. He's really strong to see things so clearly, and truthfully, he's being more mature than any of the real adults in this scenario.

18-year-old blocks father’s girlfriend’s number after moving out, she tries to guilt trip him into talking to her: “You better be there everyday to make up for it”
Hey there, people of the internet. We all know the infamous stories, anecdotes, and folktales about all types of mothers. It seems like half the population has an issue with their bio mom, to the point where they're either your best friend or your worst enemy. Then there's the wedding stories, and ridiculous family dynamics around mother-in-laws. They're known to be domineering, dominating, controlling, and all of it comes out through a smile. Then there's the evil stepmother, the one who's potentially possessive of her new man, and jealous of his children and their bio mom. The one who doesn't want the best for her stepchildren, who might end up sabotaging her own marriage because of it.
Do you know where all of these stereotypes about mothers come from? It actually stems from Greek mythology, and the story of Cupid and Psyche. Cupid's mother is Aphrodite, who's the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility. She's used to getting male attention, but when that disappears when a mere mortal woman, Psyche, surpasses her beauty, she becomes jealous. She sends her son Cupid to sabotage her, but he's overcome by her beauty as well. This story isn't about that, but read the full thing for all the juicy details.
