'He is our miracle': Husband finds a 5-week-old 1-pound kitten in the hood of his car after driving to work for 45 minutes, brings him home, and the tiny fluffball immediately falls in love with the family's giant Golden Retriever

One of our favorite facts about cats is that cats domesticated themselves. Did you know that? Humans didn't have to do anything. Cats just saw all of that comfort and free food and decided that being a part of that sounds much nicer than having to fight for scraps outside. And we can't blame them. But what's even cooler than that is that we are not talking about something that happened thousands of years ago. Cats continue to domesticate themselves to this day. 

Each and every day, somewhere out there in the world, a cat decides that it is done with outdoor life, that it is time to be adopted and spoiled. And it doesn't matter where they are, it doesn't matter what age they are, the meowment that they make this decision, the universe seems to just… provide. And you, as the human, will be blessed with the kitten in the most unexpected ways sometimes - even if that means finding a kitten under the hood of your car.

  • The universe has a way of just… working things out sometimes. This is indeed a miracle kitten. The fact that he accepted everyone in the house so quickly is a real sign that he was meant to be there. He chose the right car hood to hide under.

    Navi was named after "Navagio Shipwreck Beach" in Zakynthos Greece. After we went on our honeymoon there and saw all of the amazing street cats, I knew I wanted a cat but was waiting for the right time.

    I was looking at fosters and had an appointment set up to meet a 1 year old cat the same week we found him. When I told My husband I wanted a cat and was looking at fosters, he was hesitant since we already have a dog (and honestly kind of against adding a new member to the family)

    and I asked the universe for a sign that we were meant for a cat. I kid you not the next morning my husband called me immediately in the morning with this beautiful kitten in the most crazy of circumstances, he took the day off from work so he could take him to the vet.

  • Of course he was worried. This is a legitimate worry to have. But alas, the cat distribution system was working overtime that day, and it knew that this was a worthy family. We hope all of you have many, many happy and healthy years together.

    LuluAddict29 OP Yes he couldn't hear anything while he was driving but said he heard loud crying when he stepped out of the car. He called animal control before popping the hood because he thought it could have been like a squirrel or raccoon but animal control was useless so he took matters into his own hands and popped the hood ②
