Envious coworker is upset that his supervisor gets remote work privileges, then proceeds to bad-mouth the supervisor to their shared client while under the influence: ‘Coworker was promptly fired’

  • "He didn't realize the person he was talking to was the same person he complained about to me for being 'too [...] stupid to make the money he was making...""
  • "Coworker spent two years upset I worked remote and he didn't, and got fired after getting d***k in front of a client"

So all of this started a couple of years ago up until recently, but I didn't leave this job until a couple of months ago and didn't want to take the chance of my old
  • workplace finding this and me getting in trouble. Also, I know a lot of Al slop has been on here lately, but this isn't that. I wrote this on my phone, hers a spelling mistake for proof lol.
  • Back when the pan mic started we went remote like many offices. About a year into it my company decided to close the office my department had been in
  • and let everyone stay remote. I asked and was given the opportunity by upper management to move further away, which was great as I found a better house in a lower cost of
  • living area, and I'm still here. Then in 23 they decided to merge our department into the main corporate building, and anyone within 30 miles had to come back
  • to the office. Which was kind of dumb since our department could do everything remotely, but thems the rules. I was over 70 miles away so I was fine. I still came in when needed, but that was only 2-3 times a year.

  • That same year we got a new hire who reported directly to me and hated that I was remote and he had to come in. I found out while training him he lived a literal
  • block away from the building, but still didn't want to come in. But this wasn't enough, he started demanding I come in every day to train him. I told him no, not
  • happening. I was given direct permission by my boss, her boss, and her bosses boss to move. I wasn't about to do a 140 mile a day commute when we could do everything over Teams.
  • He scheduled a meeting with my boss in an effort to go over my head. She called me and asked what was going on? I filled her in and she was amused. She was
  • also remote and had been the entire 10 years she had been there as her husband was military and they moved every few years due to him changing duty stations. The company of course
  • knew this, and gave her full permission to be remote as she was very skilled in our niche field. This guy did not know this
  • though as he had scheduled an in person meeting with her, which was impossible as we were on the east coast and she was in California at the time.
  • This didn't go over well with him, so he walked right into our department heads office and complained, which was a huge no no. Our department head was legitimately constantly busy, and worked 50+ hour weeks constantly. He was told to pound sand.
  • After this, the new guy was quiet for a bit. I could tell he was still upset but he had calmed down so I figured he had finally accepted the situation. Then earlier this year we went on a week long
  • work trip together. Seemed to go well, clients were happy. But when I got back one of our clients who was present at the work trip called me to give me a heads up
  • he was sending a complaint about my coworker. Probably shouldn't have, but we had a great working relationship.
  • Apparently they had ended up at the same restaurant the last night before we left, and my coworker had gotten very d k and started talking massive amounts of sh about me, my boss, our
  • department head, everyone. Even ended up talking sh about that client to his face because he didn't realize the person he was talking to was the same person
  • he complained about to me for being "too stupid to make the money he was making", which he also told him.
  • Apparently he didn't realize this was the same client because he never bothered to learn this guy's name after an entire week, and since that was the first time he had ever seen his face wouldn't have had a reason to put two and two together.
  • I told him go right ahead, I'm sorry that happened but corporate should know. I never got in trouble as the client made sure to let them know I wasn't involved, it happened outside of
  • work, and he was thinking of taking his business elsewhere when the contract was up at the end of the year if he was going to have to deal with my coworker again.
  • Coworker was promptly fired, and I ended up finding another job this year after getting fed up with my managers s xist remarks but that's another story.
  • sophiemilkybear Honestly, talking sh about the client to the client has gotta be a top-tier blunder. like, at least learn the man's name before calling him dumb.
