Not one human could have taught these baby raccoons what this sweet doggo taught them. One day, a family got a call from a local rescue about three baby raccoons who tragically lost their mother, could not survive on their own, and needed a temporary home. The babies were wild, small and very scared.

The woman - the pit bull owner - agreed to take them in, but no one knew how they were going to react to the large pupper. Ashlyn the pit bull seemed just as surprised as everyone about the appearance of these new little creatures, but instantly, her nurturing side took over. She walked around the raccoons slowly, sniffing them gently, and laid down beside them, completely calm.

She let them come to her in their own time, and the little raccoons, who didn't even know what kind of animal Ashlyn was started climbing on her, brushing up against her and curling up with her. They chose her. They decided that this was going to be their new momma. That's how they spent the first few days - staying close together.

And Ashlyn was with them the whole time, leading them through the woods, walking slowly, looking back to make sure they were all there following her. Every time one lagged behind her, she would stop and wait for them all to catch up.
