Do people still do destination weddings? We're still expecting 100+ guests to attend a ceremony hundreds of miles away on their own dime, so we can get married barefoot and in the sand? I'm mostly kidding, as many brides and grooms don't expect everyone to make it to their destination wedding if they can't afford it, but not all of them are that understanding. Some brides and grooms even expect their parents to take out personal loans for the expenses they cannot afford…
Our parents do a lot for us. Our mothers birthed us, our fathers taught us how to take no nonsense, and the two of them as a family unit did the best they could with the circumstances they were given. The least we can do for them is not put them into debt when they're nearing retirement age… right?
The bride in this next story expects her parents to take out a $35k loan on top of the cash they've already put toward her destination wedding in Italy, but the parents refuse. Though one of the parents tries to convince the other to cave and just do it for their daughter, they refuse on moral principle. Why should they dig themselves in a hole when they are so close to calling it quits in the workforce? Scroll below to read the full story. What would you do in this situation?
