Sometimes you get so annoyed you just have to laugh, and Philly drivers know this feeling so well.
Driving in major cities is a special kind of nerve wracking. Most of us learn to drive by navigating back roads and highways. People tend to obey the laws here, and if you pick a remote enough area, you can have plenty of space to practice. In a city, though, it's like the rules just don't apply half the time. It's all about what you can get away with. Just tell that to the person whose car is rocking a boot while sitting in the driveway of their home.
Philly parking is so notorious that from 2008-2012, a show called "Parking Wars" followed members of the parking enforcement agency. It highlighted their daily routines and interactions with the public over seven seasons. The show was absolutely hilarious, and it showed the lives of workers as well as frustrated people who just wanted to get their dang cars out of the impound lot. That was a decade ago, though, and the world is different now. Philadelphians aren't afraid to pull out their phones and start recording their day-to-day parking experiences to share with the whole internet. Some of them are laughing at the absurdity, while others are holding up pricey tickets that the city of brotherly love has doled out to them.
