'[She] acted like I was her parent, not her roommate': Woman moves in with her best friend, covers her rent, cares for her dog, allows her evicted family to move in, all for the "friend" to trash the apartment and ask for rent a week after she moved out

Looking for a roommate always feels like a random roll of the dice. You don't know what you will end up with. And with a dog involved, the choice is even more important. You don't know if you'll end up with a great roommate who loves your dog or with an insensitive roommate who has a problem with your dog. You'd think that them knowing about the dog in advance would be enough, but it's not, not always. People can change up on you when it comes to stressful situations.

So… move in with your best friend. Right? No mixed bag there. You know who you're with, who they are, what it's going to be like living with them. Except you don't. Because best friends can also change up on your during stressful situations. Which is pretty much what ended up here. When they moved in with their best friend, this person instantly got hit with reality, because the problems started right away - the lack of rent, the neglected dog - who the roommate took care of more than the owner. Beware who you move in with, and think twice before moving in with a friend.

There are levels and levels of madness here. Every time we thought this story could not get worse, it 100% did. Seriously, every time. To cause you so many issues, even after moving out, is beyond ridiculous. Good on you for taking that step and leaving.

And we want to tell you the biggest thank you for getting the dog out of there. That sweet thing did not deserve having to live among all that madness. You did the right thing making the call, and they very much did the right thing by taking it. Now, we just hope the same is going to happen with the cat.
