Hey there, ladies and gentlemen of the internet. Dietary restrictions and allergies are no joke. If you really can't digest something, if you're going to have a severe allergic reaction to eating something, then it can be a very traumatic situation for a young child. 
 

I grew up with an allergy to corn, and in hindsight, it was a blessing in disguise. Corn was in everything, at least it was in everything processed and bad for you. Essentially, I was forced to eat only homemade meals. I couldn't eat junk food, I couldn't eat fast food, I couldn't have snacks or candy. It was homemade meals only. I think it tailored my palette to enjoy those flavors, and when you're a kid you don't really know the difference.
