Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. Family will never cease to surprise us, make us question everything in our life, and let us change over time. Though family should be a space for love, safety, comfort, and maturity that will embolden any young kid into a successful and happy adult, we all know that it's far from true. Everyone has family problems, and even the people who seem to have the perfect family on the outside have problems, and usually they have the most issues. The more perfect a family seems, the more they can be hiding all their demons.
When a family member pushes us to the edge of our sanity, dignity, or emotions, it can trigger other things in our life. Maybe what your uncle said to you at Christmas dinner is ringing in your ears, and you can't let it go until you keep talking to your mom about it. The point is that family dynamics are difficult.
In the story below, the protagonist is a teenage girl whose aunt disrespects her. The girl tries to communicate calmly and rationally with her aunt, but to no avail.
