25 Mildly infuriating guest experiences: 'Hotel guest's dog chewed up the remote control'

Not every hotel stay is going to be perfect. Sometimes this can be avoided by checking out those guest reviews and scrolling to the 1-star reviews (or peeking at the most recent ones). Sometimes the recent reviewers will clue you in to loud construction work at the hotel, or inform you that the pool isn't open during the summer. The same goes for Airbnb's: a lot of guests will be quite honest about how the accommodations were, and will happily write about any bug problems or issues with the host. 

However, not every stay works out, and sometimes the guest is the one to blame. A few Airbnb hosts were horrified by the items their guests broke, like one dude who needs to order an entirely new bed because a guest demolished it. Clearly, this has happened way too many times to some Airbnb hosts… because they make lengthy lists of all the ways they're going to charge their guests for crimes like leaving the lights on or leaving some leftover pizza in the fridge.     The BF's mom also left a surprise under the cupboards… spilled soda and 12 cans of Pringles left amongst a bunch of other items that this woman broke. That's a great way to never get invited to the house ever again!

    So many of these rules are mildly infuriating

    AIR BNB Guests Additional rules This is mainly short stay place, so we don't expect much luggage with the guest. If you have more than 2 big Items with each guest, you have to keep in external storage. Visitors strictly not allowed, without prior permission from me! No Smoking in the rooms No use of washing machine or kitchen for guests staying less than 4 days Washing machine use only once every 4 days for long term guests Leave a Clean room/bathroom prior to departure Working or studying from

    Alongside the ones that were highlighted, guests are apparently not supposed to take video calls, work or study from home, and they also have to clean the bathroom before they leave. Wow, such hospitality! 

    However, for about $35-$40 a night, I suppose these insane rules might be worth the deal. Then again, a hostel costs about the same, and wouldn't make you scrub the toilets before heading out.

    This is crazy work, especially considering they got the stain out flawlessly

    AirBnB host wants $3,000 to replace a couch... This is the stain after it was cleaned. And there is one on the front of the bench cushion. I don't have the best pic of that stain but I still have a pic.

    The host reportedly wanted $1,100 for a new couch, and when the guest refused, she sent a damage claim to AirBnB for $3,000!

    Guest asks if they can take a shower, I provide a towel and show them the toiletries drawer. They use the sink bar of communal hand soap on their body and put it back in the dish. >

    …Why would they do this…? This host literally showed them a drawer full of toiletries, but they still chose the worst/grossest option.

    A hotel would never charge you $150 for forgetting your leftovers in the fridge... but this place would

    Port Huron, MI Outrageous AirBnB 67$/Night listing came out to 261$.     This feels like a list made by someone who's been personally hurt by their guests in the past. The rules themselves tell a story of guests who left the water running, moved the furniture around, or left the doors unlocked when they left. Still, it's rather unpleasant for a prospective guest to have to consider all this.

    It's possibly the worst place in the hotel to bring your expensive electronics, but that wouldn't stop this person!

    The rating scale seems broken
