19-year-old gets even with stepmom who refuses to pick them up from the bus stop: 'Stepmom said if I was late not to come home'

In this life, you can try to do everything right, and you still might be punished for doing things wrong. Maybe you have a boss who flips out if you mess up, but then also never gives you a pat on the back when you succeed. Or maybe, like this person, you have parents who impose their own strict rules, but no matter what you do, you're still somehow breaking another rule you didn't even know about in the first place. 

Some parents will control their teens so much that they forget some of the rules they imposed on them in the first place! Like, the parent might insist that the kid needs to go out and search for jobs. But then when that kid drives back later at night, the parent gets distressed that the teen is breaking that rule instead. Too many rules just creates a kid who is very sneaky and finds ways around the rules, as this teen revealed in their story below.

    I was 19 years old and still living at home. My dad is/was married to a woman who is the total "evil stepmother". My Dad would drop me at the city bus stop in the morning. I didn't have a job so I rode around and applied for jobs all day. Well, I'm supposed to meet my dad at the end of the day so he can take me back home Somehow, I missed the bus a couple times.     Well, my stepmom told me that if I'm late again, just don't bother coming home. I took her at her word. Some time goes by and I accidentally miss the bus again, making me late. So, I called a friend (collect) that I barely know and asked if I could stay with him.

    I found this out when I called my Dad and he got me home from this guy's apartment. He was saying how worried he was. I just stared at him blankly and said "well, (stepmom) said if I was late not to come home. I was late, so..." Nothing really came of it. He's still married but separated.
