Over-worked staff left questioning "legality", after boss tells employees to run errands using their personal cars, without reimbursement for expenses: 'Using our own gas and putting wear on our personal vehicles'

This company is really pushing their employees' limits, testing how much ridiculousness they will actually put up with before calling it quits! Because at the end of the day, everyone has a breaking point, and when your input outways the output, it's time to start reassessing a job's worthiness to your life. 

This employee is baffled by the fact that his boss is demanding he run work errands in his personal car. But here's the catch: There will be no gas reimbursement or insurance cover for any accidents…so in simple, less legal terms, what he's basically saying is: respectfully, go take a long, luscious hike! This man should be cast next to Jen Aniston and Kevin Spacey, because all he seems to be capable of is becoming America's most Horrible Boss!

So how does one tell the man who's paying his wages that he refuses to use his personal car as an asset to the business, when all it's ultimately doing is reducing his monthly income!

  • Maybe the only way to take down a horrible boss is to beat him at his own game. Either tell him that you're only mode of transport is the two feet you were blessed with…or get a legal team involved to take him down. Because not only does this steer into illegal territory, but it is also just completely unethical!

    LongrideBiker I have an accident attorney in my family that would absolutely love, LOVE, LOVE this. If employed for that employer gets into an accident please DM me and I will send them to you. They recently settled a case in PA where the employer did this exactly then tried to cover it up by saying they never told the employees anything like that.

    They settled out of court with the employee recieving $1.3m after attorney fees. The employer even tried to claim bankruptcy and the judge warned that due to the false claims by the employer the judge would potentially allow for the LLC veil to be lifted. That meant that the employee would be able to go after the employers personal assets such as houses and cars.

    JiovanniTheGREAT I don't drive for work and they reimbursed me when I had to drive 70 miles round trip once for a site tour. This is highly illegal and you should at the very least, report them to the labor board.
