'I feel like she saw me and just chose me': Sweet cat decides that she's done with outdoor life, walks straight up to her chosen forever home and gets adopted

We don't know if you know this, but cats actually domesticated themselves. Yep. We didn't need to do anything to make that happen. No convincing necessary, no snacks needed as bribes. Throughout history, cats must have realized that humans are willing to do literally anything for them, including feeding them and keeping them warm. So, they used it to their advantage. And they still do. Till this day, every once in a while, cats decide that they're done with outdoor life and that it is time to finally get properly pampered. 

That is what the cat in this story did. One day, she decided that living outside, working hard for food and shelter, that just wasn't it for her anymore. And so, this cat chose a human and walked up to them. And guess what? Just like that - domesticated. Another cat added to the list. And just like every other time throughout history, her human is already obsessed with her.

    This little baby was sitting in my driveway staring at me, walked up, and introduced herself. I fed her and soon she wanted to come inside. I have never seen her outside before so I'm wondering where she came from. I'm currently keeping her in my bathroom to let her adjust tonight.

I also think she may be the mischievous little baby going through my trash can I'm going to schedule a vet apt for her tomorrow. I feel like she saw me and just chose me ③I do. have two dogs so that's going to be a challenge but also have a three bedroom house so she could have a room. Any advice?

  • No matter how many times we see it, it somehow still amazes us that cats can do this. They can just up and decide one day that they don't feel like living outside anymore, walk up to someone, and… not live outside anymore.

  • We say that it amazes us, yes, but of course we would be one of those people happily adopting, so maybe we should not be quite so surprised. We say this to whichever cat may be out there looking: we are very much available to getting adopted by you, please and thank you.

    New-Currency2075 OP That's exactly how she was! When I'd turn my back I noticed she'd be mostly through the door. Then when I'd look at her she'd pause and slowly back up. It was so funny
