Man finds an abandoned kitten at a surveying jobsite, immediately adopts her, and gains a best friend for life: 'She's my homie, dude, I love this cat'

One of the things that we think people who don't have cats simply cannot understand about cat ownership is the friendship that we have with them. And if you're sitting there right now, thinking "of course I get it", we promise you that you don't. Not quite. The bond between us and our cats is beyond words. We don't know if it's possible to explain what it feels like when your cat curls up in your lap for the first time - or the thousandth, or what it feels like when your cat meows at you like they're having a conversation with you.  

We don't think that we have ever been able to capture this feeling in writing quite right, but this man… we think he's done it. He rescued this sweet kitten from a jobsite surveying that he was doing, simply accepting that he was chosen by her and going on about his life. But she's proven to be special, and you can feel it in the way he talks about her.

    I take her everywhere and she always follows me, we take walks through the park near my house and she climbs trees, she brings me leaves from outside and drops them near her food bowl so she's tryna show me she's contributing, cute dude. SO

    Got her checked up at the vet and everything looks great, got her vaccines and I am feeding her grain-free food. She had her taste of catnip treats and now she begs me for it everyday...somedays I give in.

  • We cannot even tell you how much reading this made us smile. There's something so pure about how this is told - the way that this love and friendship between animal and human is explained. It's precious. And we are thankful for it and baffled by it every single day, and we'll continue to be as long as our babies live.

    mstarrbrannigan Seriously though. When you befriend an animal it hits so different than when you're friends with a human. You had to overcome a whole language and species barrier to find a way to understand each other. And the bond that creates is crazy. I've had my cat for over ten years, and it seems like we just get closer and closer all the time.
