Streaming service Twitter account compares woman's engagement ring to "The Summer I Turned Pretty" jewelry: 'My fiancé and I are not TV characters'

This newly-engaged Twitter user was stunned to find out that a huge streaming service randomly roasted her ring in what she's calling "anti-social behavior."

Not every corporate Twitter account can be Wendy's circa 2017-2019, but it seems like they all strive to be her! In the before times, corporate accounts were just that — you could follow an account to complain to them about your product having an issue, or perhaps they might launch a product on a tweet that would get like, 4 likes. Then, a clever Wendy's social media manager started roasting Twitter users. People would say things like, "not a big fan of your chicken nuggets," and Wendy's would reply, "Not a big fan of your existence." At the time, this was wholly groundbreaking and hilarious. And of course, every other brand decided they had to be edgy, be super cool and funny all the time. This certainly has a cost for customers, though, who aren't necessarily looking to get roasted every time they want to contact a brand online.

Now it's fairly common for social media managers to talk more like your bestie and less like an actual brand. And this is just one of the latest examples of an interaction gone wrong. This woman was just casually showing off her new engagement ring when a huge streaming service Twitter account showed up to write an interesting comment about it. This led to most people taking the comment as insensitive and unkind, while others thought it was actually a fine thing to say.

Her ring is small, but a lot of people like small rings. After all, if you're going to be wearing it all day every day, it should be comfortable. Even a cheap ring for everyday wear makes sense — if you lose it or damage it, it's not the end of the world. As some people pointed out, too, small rings are very much in fashion right now. And at the end of the day, it really comes down to personal taste.

How would you feel if your parents commented on your ring like this? Or your best friend? You wouldn't care for that, so that makes it even more off-putting that a brand would do so.

If they were trying to make a comparison, though, they still did it in a mean-spirited way, in my opinion. He's not the character that most TSITP viewers tend to side with!
