25-year-old woman, who raised her ex-husband’s youngest brother like her own child, attends his school graduation despite her ex insisting she stay away, causing his new controlling girlfriend to make dramatic scene: 'My ex had struggled to calm her down'

Motherhood is not always merely biological…It can be shown in the way you shelter, feed, teach, and love another human being like your own, without any external pressures to do so. This woman is the perfect example of that…After taking her partner's (at the time) younger brother into her home and treating him as if he were always there…She filled his life with love and gave him someone to call 'mom'. Unfortunately, her and her ex's relationship didn't stand the test of time…but luckily she and her ex's brother were able to maintain a strong and healthy bond! 

However…this seems to be an issue for some of her ex's new partners, who seem to feel intimidated by her presence in his brother's life…Yet, how could anyone expect her to take a step back from the boy she practically raised, because a few insecure adult woman put their feelings ahead of a teenage boy's? We can fully acknowledge the awkwardness this may bring…but will this man let his girlfriend stand in the way of his brother's happiness and support? Well, it just so happens to be his high-school graduation ceremony, so let us see how that plays out…Our instincts are telling us…not so well!

    Apparently, my ex even talked badly about me to make her feel better. Before all of this, my ex and I were on friendly terms after the divorce, but since then, she's had a problem with me, so now he's "not allowed" to talk to me.

    Tasty Association353 NTA, but really, a bit silly for agreeing to not go just to make your ex's over controlling gf happy. (She is responsible for her own emotions!) You raised this kid, of course you should have gone. Would a "Sry, changed my mind. I'm going" text have been appropriate? Yes. I doubt this gf will last long. anyways.

    OP ExpertAlbatross3537 He's the type of person that would stay with someone just to not be single so I don't think they will break up anytime soon, and I agreed only because I was mentally and physically exhausted, it was 1 in the morning when this argument happened.

    PedXing23 NTA: The young guy wanted you there. You matter more to him than his brother's girl friend. The g.f. is an AH - the graduation is about what the young man has accomplished, not about her. Your ex should know that was well.

    OP ExpertAlbatross3537 That is true, but since he is his brother I thought that carried more weight in the decision, especially because the kid looks up to his brother a lot, even tho his brother doesn't bother to pay much attention to him.
