Owners move without their cat, she finds shelter from the rain with a nearby neighbor who adopts the feline into their family: 'She made herself right at home'

Abandoning a cat is heinous. We don't have any other, more fitting word to describe this deed. Adopting a cat in the first place is like adding another, floofier member to your family. And when you adopt someone into your family - it means you also "adopt" all responsibility for them. Their well-being, their health, their safety - all are in your hands. And if you break that promise after you adopt a cat, you break something deep in their soul - and probably also in yours. You don't just "let go" of something when you leave a cat behind, you leave part of your soul with it.

Look, we might not be forgiving of people who abandon their cats - and we don't intend to hide it. But we're also very, very, very proud of people who take in these cats in their most dire hour of need. Knowing these people exist out there fills our feline-loving hearts with hope. We want to reach out and say "thanks", on behalf of all cats and cat people whose hearts they warm by them existing and doing their ameowzing work.

And this is exactly the duality of the situation described here below. We absolutely love this cat found a stable forever home, but we hate that she was in such a need in the first place.

  • This belly exposure tells us everything we need to know - this cat feels comfortable, relaxed, and cozy. Just as a cat is supposed to be. Not cold in the rain, abandoned and confused. A cat needs to feel love and affection, and when they give it back tenfold, with bellies exposed and lots of purrs. This picture is everything that cats deserve, no less.

    Trailer TrashQueen Cat Parent Top 1% Commenter i know, but there a BIG difference between taking a pet to a shelter and abandoning them. of course life can change and people aren't able to keep a pet. what i, and many others, cannot understand is abandoning an animal. in my opinion, it's animal cruelty. bring them to a shelter. or a friend, neighbor or foster family. something, anything. then at least they have a chance & will be cared for.

This cat looks like the sweetest cat ever and its owners just got in their cars and left it on the porch??
