I pull up and little miss is just hanging out in my parking spot. She ran right up to me so I was thinking she was an escaped pet but no microchip/collar.

I posted her picture on Facebook, Ring and Nextdoor but so far no one is stepping forward.
  • 04
I'm going to wait a week (I want to give her potential owner time) but it feels like it was meant to be!

Both of our senior dogs crossed over the rainbow this past summer so our home feels empty, that was the last time I would ever be at that parking lot and a coworker said she's been there for a few weeks.
  • 07
She is incredibly affectionate and calm, I'm trying to convince my husband to not fall in love with her just yet but she's making that a loosing battle.

OP kitkatkenobi I've seen a fox and coyote in the lot before, they are beautiful animals but I couldn't just walk away and leave her to that. I'm honestly surprised she only had the one little cut.
  • 11
nvmkthnxbai So precious and gorgeous, congrats! Is that a cut under her eye?
  • 12
OP kitkatkenobi Yeah, it's a few days old judging by how much it's healed.
  • 13
Kinjjibo I don't know why you don't want your husband to love your new cat!
  • 14
kitkatkenobi OP ⚫ Mostly don't want to break his heart if she has an owner looking for her. She's easy to love so I think we are sunk.
  • 15
CarFirst307 Please take her to the vet for antibiotics. She's so beautiful.
  • 16
OP kitkatkenobi She has a vet appointment for later in the week!
  • 17
Orangecatlover4 Sounds like it was meant to be. Have you come up with a name? If you haven't I would consider "Kismet," or Kiss for short. It means a force, outside of human control, that determines what will happen in the future, a preordained fate. Because it was fate for you guys to cross paths she's darling.
  • 18
OP kitkatkenobi That's so much better than Ravioli
  • 19
Mtndrums That makes sense. Regular strays are usually skittish around people.
  • 20
OP kitkatkenobi She's definitely not feral, she's familiar with a litter box and veeerrry affectionate
  • 21
turnipslop Idk if microchips are a thing where you are, but a trip to the vet would tell you if they have an owner who has chipped them and lost their cat. If they don't have one, then congratulations on your new cat.
  • 22
OP kitkatkenobi It was the first thing I checked! Unfortunately no chip or collar.
  • 23
hy-on-potenuse Honest question, what do you all feel ultimately is the determining factor in deciding if a cat is homeless/ownerless?
  • 24
Like if I saw a cat that looked like this, reasonable healthy and clean, I would never think to take it away from where it was. I would assume it's an outdoor cat that lives nearby. But everyone here seems pretty certain this is a homeless cat. Can someone explain why?
  • 25
I don't think I could trust I didn't steal someone's pet just because they're not coming forward. I'd assume it's an outdoor cat and the owner thinks it just wandered off far and will come back eventually. Maybe they're old and don't even use the internet like that.
  • 26
The only thing that would make me feel comfortable taking the cat in this situation is if they looked emaciated but this one looks so clean and well-fed.
  • 27
OP kitkatkenobi I totally get what you are saying! That's why I've posted her picture all over. I don't think cats are supposed to be outside to begin with, but she also had zero identification. If she was someone's pet, they felt comfortable letting their kitten out of the house (where cars and

wildlife are plentiful) with no collar or microchip. I refuse to just steal someone's pet even if they are irresponsible, so I'm giving them a week to step forward and claim her. Animal control would give them 48hrs before they either put her down or put her up for adoption.

DoriValcerin This cat wants to be your cat. Let your husband fall in love with her. Let yourself fall in love with her. You have a good thing going.
