There are so many red flags here that we don't even know where to start. But lets talk about the part that disappoints us the most - the dad. Forget the stepmom and the stepsisters. We've known ever since watching Cinderella when we were kids that this could happen, but the dad… The dad is supposed to be on his daughter's side. He's supposed to protect her always. The fact that he is choosing the side of the stepmom and stepsisters is so, so concerning to us. We hope that this is just a bad moment for him, that it's not always like this, because if it is… a little bit longer and you'll be legal enough to leave.

If they are so miffed by the cat's existence, we don't know why they would ever take it with them to their home. We think that the only thing that it proves is that they don't actually care about the cat and only really care about tormenting you. We don't know if this is a case for calling CPS or not, but we do think that this is something that you should start looking into, before they do something even crazier, like possibly taking your medications from you while you're not looking.

Having a cat is one of the best ways to detect potential pitfalls in relationships.
Apparently. You would think that we, as cat owners, would have come across this issue. But maybe we have been lucky. Because some of the things that we have seen people complain about online have left us shocked, and we would only say thank you that they did not happen in our lives. When we moved in with our partners, they did not have a problem with our cats - they knew that we and the cats were a package deal. But apparently, some people have a real problem with the concept.
We've seen everything. Men giving their girlfriends ultimatums about their cats - making them choose between them and the felines. We have seen roommates adopting cats without permission and then leaving the cats in the hands of their "friends". We have seen mothers-in-law attempting to evict couple's cats, when the mothers were the ones who were not invited to the house in the first place. And now this - this story… it has to be one of the worst ones. An emotional support cat for a 17-year-old girl who had lost her mom, and the "new mom", i.e. the stepmom and the stepdaughter, are ganging up on her, demanding that she get rid of the cat. And do you think the dad took his daughter's side? Prepare to be disappointed.
