    "wants to declaw the cat"

4 years ago Not very personable and they are pretty passive aggressive. A 3 2 3 r Starfish Animal Rescue (Owner) 4 years ago Hi Amanda, We declined your application because you said you would declaw the cat that you wanted to adopt. Declawing is a painful, cruel procedure (it is essentially multiple amputations) and we do not allow any of our cats to be declawed. The person who reviewed your application explained this to you in a very professional manner. We feel that was an appropriate response

Toronto-1975 people who get their cats declawed are psychopaths who shouldnt be allowed near a cat. thankfully most reputable vets now refuse to do declaw procedures.

Toasted Catmallow If someone's that worried about their furniture, they should get a pet couch.

NightFox1988 I recall being on a website for apartments, and some had an alarming requirement of wanting cats and dogs to be declawed. Those places are the last place I would want to live in.

Useless890 We got a cat that was a retired stud. He had ALL.his claws removed, front and back. He couldn't scratch an itch. He had to train me to do it. He'd sit down in front of me. When I'd ask, "Itchy?" he'd pretend to scratch to show me where it was so I could scratch him.

Xx_DeadDays_xX I really dont know how people can even actually consider declawing a cat. my cat is constantly doing things that she needs her claws for. I couldn't even imagine taking those things away from her. so disgusting and cruel.

tubbamalub I had a declawed cat. She came to us as a fospice, but we adopted her so that she would be a cat with a home when she died.

She had litter box issues, as many declawed cats do. I don't know if she'd always had them, or if they arose as she got older. She was 17 when she came to us. Thankfully she was very confident and got along with our other cats. We would have moved her to her own bedroom, otherwise. Wouldn't want her to be in a position of not being able to defend herself.

No furniture is more precious to me than a living creature's life. End of story. If you value your furniture more than your pet's well-being, you shouldn't have a pet.

The rescue thought that the cat only had a few weeks to live. She stayed for more than a year before we had to say goodbye. I seriously think she held on for so long because she liked it here. Ten years later and she's still in my heart.

Katvara It's how we ended up taking in our latest stray from the woods. The neighbor saw her and, while in conversation with my husband, said if he could get her and bring her in he'd have her declawed. The cat was in our bathroom that night lol
