Just because something is big, robust, with horns and fangs doesn't mean he's all bad! Looks are often deceiving, and sometimes the most treacherous creatures are actually warm and cuddly at heart. Many animals we label as "wild" or "scary" are really just misunderstood. Media and hearsay have ingrained in us a sense of unfair bigotry against powerful animals, sharp teeth, or intimidating features on creatures that deep down are only built like that to survive in their own ecosystem. Most of the time, what we interpret as aggression is actually fear, protection, or a simple desire to survive. And it makes sense that we would have this fear, we're trying to protect ourselves. But once you see a smiling tiger you can't go back! The fangs won't survive the smiles. 

Wolves, tigers, lions, bears – they all get a bad rap. But wolves, for example, are actually highly family-oriented animals! We're so familiar with the idea of the "lone wolf," but really they just want to travel in packs, care for their young, and help each other. A wolf's loyalty to the pack is one of the strongest bond in the animal kingdom, built on trust and communication. 

These types of animals are cuties at heart, and absolutely don't deserve their villainous stereotypes! They don't act out of cruelty or malice. They act out of instinct, necessity, and sometimes care for their own. We're all familiar with stories about the misunderstood man, or the deformed boy who really just wants to be loved. From The Phantom of the Opera and on, the trope is one that we see in every culture, amongst all species. You don't have to be an ugly duckling yourself to understand the pain of isolation.
