Cows are basically gentle, grass-powered sweethearts with some surprisingly cute talents. For starters, cows are very social animals. They form close friendships, and studies have shown that cows actually get stressed when separated from their preferred buddies. Yes - cows have best friends, and yes - they get calmer when they’re together. They’re also pretty smart. Cows can recognize individual faces, both bovine and human, and they have good long-term memory. If a cow remembers you fondly, congrats: you’ve made it into the inner herd.
Physically, cows are fascinating. Their famous four-chambered stomach helps them digest tough plants by chewing cud (basically re-chewing their food, but make it efficient). They also have an impressive field of vision of about 300 degrees, which means they can see almost everything around them without turning their heads. Great for spotting snacks, for example.
Cows communicate using different moo pitches and tones to express hunger, excitement, stress, or just saying hello. Calves even have special “mom-only” moos. Speaking of calves - young cows love to run, jump, and play, sometimes just because the vibes are right.
Despite their calm demeanor, cows can run up to 25 miles per hour in short bursts, which is frankly shocking for such chill creatures. All in all, cows are affectionate, expressive, and quietly delightful - proof that pastoral life is full of personality.
