  • "AITA for refusing to work my 2-week schedule AFTER being fired?"

Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - I got a new job caring for patients in an Assisted Living place. Basically fancy apartments with older people who needed some amount of care.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - They were all supposed to be ambulatory. They were not. I was supposed to be one of 2 people on shift.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - was always alone. To be clear I hated this job from the start but tried to get used to it.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - It was way more physically demanding than I had expected They had a STRICT 3 strikes rule.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Miss a shift 3 times in 3 months and you are fired immediately. No exceptions. Well my second week there ALL the patients started getting a well feared virus.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Every. Single. One. Even taking precautions I got it, as did other staff members. I had to miss two days and went to the doctor on my own.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - I was deathly ill but returned after that. I felt like I was dying for over a week trying to lift and move and help all my patients on my own while still feeling sick.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Management thanked me for returning so soon because they were so understaffed. Forward a month and my child got said virus.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - It was going around everywhere. I had to call in and stay home with her. I had to miss my overnight shift.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Imagine my surprise when the next day I was told I'd missed 3 shifts and would be let go.

  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - was fuming! I only missed those first two days bc I got this virus at work and they knew it.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - (It gets worse.) Then the new manager called and asked me why I was not at work.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - I explained that I'd been told by the "higher up manager" that since I missed three times I was let go.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - She then demanded that I work the rest of my two week schedule and THEN I would be let go.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Ummmm hell no! She texted me several times demanding that I come to work. I refused.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Finally I just told her if I wasn't fired then I quit! Should I have worked the remainder of my schedule knowing I was to be fired?
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Was it right to demand I do that after being told was being let go?
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - I to k I did the right thing but others told me I should have just worked it.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - AITA for being mad over being let go mostly because of a virus I got working there?
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Technical_Lawbster You need to check the labor laws around you. In my country, you would need to work the notice if the boss determines, no matter if fired or quit. I'll hold judgment until checked.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - OP Impossible_Camp_3539 No. I have checked. My state is an "at will" state. Can literally fire for any reason not banned by the Gov. can fire for NO reason at all. It was very toxic. I was glad to get out of there.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - tigerowltattoo I can't imagine the turnover at that place. It must be a new face week. every
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - OP Impossible_Camp_3539 Yes. That was the problem. They simply could not keep staff.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Salty Signature_3472 NTA for any of this. This also should b on the entitled persons page cuz that ex boss was so entitled. Like wow.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - spicyandstrange Nta. If they really needed staff, they shouldn't have such high expectations when illnesses go around or be rude like that. They got what they deserved. I feel so bad for their patients.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Annual_Government_80 No, you did the right thing. If people go to work sick, especially in the industry you were in, they get the elderly sick and the elderly really can't handle being sick without getting really ill or dying.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - ΝΟ k23_k23 you were fired, don't work any more and go for unemployment.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - desert_dame What she's trying todo is change the narrative. By firing you qualify for unemployment. By you working the two weeks. They'll say you resigned with 2 weeks notice. Have the fire notice etc in texts? Go file
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Corodix NTA. Those morons shot themselves in the foot with that dumb 3 strikes rule. No wonder they are short staffed, it's clearly a problem caused by their own mismanagement. Expecting you to come into work after firing you just shows all the more how badly mismanaged that company is. Those are some really insane expectations on their end, probably caused by that
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - Jaded-Permission-324 NTA. They suck at being bosses.
  • Impossible_Camp_3539 https://www.reddit.com/r/CharlotteDobreYouTube/comments/1qgjdww/aita_for_refusing_to_work_my_2_week_schedule/ - WrenDrake I would consult an employment lawyer. It sounds like you have a case. They legally cannot charge you for the two days out due to a work related injury/disease. I don't know where you are, but in USA, that would be illegal. Also, they misrepresented job conditions, and they used coercion (threat of firing) to force you to work while you were still ill. Get
