An abandoned puppy discarded in a duffel bag finds hope for a new life after trucker finds him crying in the pouring rain: '[He] will have no trouble finding him a new home'

When people say it's raining cats and dogs, they don't expect to find them falling from the sky. One trucker, however, found a teeny tiny puppy hidden in a duffel bag after a late-night delivery.

We hope to one day live in a world where these kinds of stories don't exist anymore. You know, the ones where people find discarded puppies on the side of the road, or in this case, stuffed into a duffel bag in the pouring rain. After making their third delivery of the night, one truck driver was about to get back into his truck when he heard something. He immediately identified the sound as a puppy crying, and went to search. Luckily, he found the puppy after a few minutes, and was able to take the pupper back home with him to Wisconsin, where he found an emergency animal rescue to care for the little guy.

Thanks to him, this puppy has a chance for a new life. The tiny critter never would have made it out of that duffel bag by himself, and even if the trucker wasn't able to adopt him, he's now healthy and under the care of professionals who will hopefully get him ready to find a furrever home.

We understand that puppies are a lot of work. Sometimes they come when you don't have the space for another one, or the time. But the correct response is never to abandon them. There are plenty of ways to handle a surprise puppy that you don't want to pawrent, like going to your local animal shelter or finding someone who wants a puppy through social media or online. No more stories like this in 2026, please.

We're absolutely pawsitive he'll find a home in no time. Look at that face! Some family would be lucky to have him. Plus, puppies are almost always adopted first. Everyone loves puppies!

If we were a trucker that found a puppy, we would absolutely keep it and have it be our road buddy. We have no idea what driving a truck is like, but we imagine that it can get kind of lonely. Maybe it's not feasible at all, but it is a very cute idea.
