Employee gets even with entitled coworker by stealing her pizza and wings after she discarded everyone's lunches the week before: 'I don't feel bad and I would do it again'

This coworker may not have gotten the chance to enjoy the large order of pizza and wings she got for herself, but it sounds like she had it coming.

The prior week, this lady took it upon herself to empty all the contents of the office fridge on a Monday afternoon, when that job is usually done by someone else at the end of the week. As a result, lots of people didn't get to eat the various sandwiches and salads they were storing in the communal kitchen because their items had been tossed in the trash without their permission or even a proper heads up. So like I said, this lady had it coming.

Now, you may be asking yourself if she was just performing a responsibility at the request of upper management. Before we grasp at straws to justify her actions, the answer is no. In fact, she likes to think of herself as part of the leadership team despite being only slightly senior in the office. Furthermore, employees usually use markers and labels to distinguish whether or not an item in the office kitchen belongs to someone or if it's fair game for all to consume. 

Well, unfortunately, it seems like some cleaning staff accidentally disposed of those markers and labels the night before, so these employees were unable to mark their lunch items. Still, the author acknowledged that everyone was aware of that except for this one coworker, who somehow decided to take it upon herself to get rid of all the contents of the fridge randomly, just because she wanted to.

  • Look, like many compulsive people, I understand the impulse to clean my surroundings. However, when it comes to communal spaces like office environments, the last thing I want to do is clean up other people's things. This is not only out of a desire for other folks to handle their own tasks, but it's also out of fear of touching something that is not mine. Even if something is aesthetically unappealing to me, unless it's mine to deal with, I'm not going to go anywhere near discarding that item without asking first.

  • Twohats9001 The difference is that your co- worker accidentally threw out peoples food. You purposefully took hers. The managers decided not to reimburse you guys, but you took it out on your co-worker. Honestly what you did is both. petty and aimed at the wrong. target, but sure, they had it coming, because they are a 'busy body' and made a mistake.

  • MissMellieM This is a lovely story! I'm still salty about a workplace fridge being cleaned out without warning a long time ago. Half of my bottled smoothie was thrown away. I was in grad school, and those weren't cheap!
