Family cat in rough shape rescued and adopted by builder despite teenager’s vague claim of cat ownership, worker says: ‘I still feel like I am kidnapping a cat even though I know he will be better off in a warm loving home who can protect and feed him.’

The Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways, and sometimes like in this story it takes going against the word of others to claim the cat that is destined to be yours.

At least that is what happened to one construction worker who found himself conflicted when a cat in the neighborhood of his worksite started showing him affection. Before long he noticed that this cat was showing all the behaviors of a stray, other than the fact that it kept frequenting one particular porch. And when the man finally saw a teenager go up to said porch he enquired as to whether the cat was indeed a feral feline or if he was their pet, to which the teenager claimed the cat was hers.

However, it is hard to claim ownership of a cat when they are left to live outside, fend for their own meals and patch up their own injuries. And so this man plucked up his courage and took the cat home to help it heal and serve it up a comforting meal. Resulting in one of the sweetest CDS rescues we have seen in a while.

  • Well, we cannot say that this builder was not right for being concerned. Cats who live the indoor life do not typically need to hide under cars for warmth, nor do their wounds usually go untended to, nor do they look dirty in any sense of the word. They are pampered creatures who are usually cared for to the highest of standards and have more than enough time on their hands to make sure that their fur is always in pristine condition. So yes, it is weird that this cat who this teenager claims to call Midnight is her cat. Because if it was then there is very little chance it would be in such a state…

  • Now this is one heck of a kind hearted man. To take on the responsibility of caring for this neglected cat, while also ensuring that the potential pawrents are informed that they cat has not been stolen only taken in to be cared for is simply above and beyond. It shows the kind of character that the Cat Distribution System loves and loves to bestow cats upon. As it seems to have done here. And you can bet your bottom dollar that the CDS knows who the worthy ones are.
