This is, unfortunately, a common practice. You don't want to leave your team in a lurch, so you do your best to cover your daily tasks even when you're not there. But this has a way of piling up for some employees. Maybe you end up putting in more hours here and there. And then, before you know it, you've done a regular week's work when you were really supposed to have the time off.
