Once you decide to adopt a cat, everything moves pretty fast.

Adopting a cat always sounds simple at first. You decide you're ready, maybe scroll through a few options, tell yourself you'll think about it and not rush. Then you actually go meet one, and that's usually where it ends. One look, one interaction, and suddenly you're already attached and the decision is basically made.

Bringing them home feels like a big deal. You set everything up, make sure they've got food, water, a place to sleep. You're thinking about how they'll adjust, how long it'll take. The cat, meanwhile, is just walking around, checking things out, figuring out where they want to sit and what they like best.

The adjustment doesn't take as long as you expect. One day they're new, a little unsure, and the next they've picked their spots and started following you around. They show up in whatever room you're in, sit nearby, and just become part of your routine without making it a big thing.

You’ve gotta tell your cat their adoption story every now and then so they remember how lucky they are that you picked them. Sit them down, explain how it all happened, really walk them through it. Not that it’ll change anything, they’ll still act like they run everything, but it’s important they hear it.

You’ve gotta keep the cat siblings together. If you take one, you take both. They already know each other, they’re used to being together, and it just works better that way.
