Woman books 4 bedroom Airbnb for girls' trip, friend invites herself and gets offended when told to book alternative accommodation: 'I'm a grown woman who needs her space'

Last minute vacation plans are either the best memories that almost didn't happen or a complete headache for everyone involved. The way that they turn out is partly a matter of luck, but also one of attitude. When somebody plans a trip without a lot of forethought, there usually has to be some acceptance that they may have to make a compromise here and there. Things won't just magically fall into place because they want them to.

If other people are involved, there has to be even more of a focus on managing expectations. Their feelings and opinions hold just as much weight, not least if they are paying their share for a vacation that they want to do their best to enjoy. Despite the fact that they are supposed to be an opportunity to relax, holiday planning can prove stressful, as some vacationers feel the pressure to enjoy the good time that they hope to have to the fullest. When plans get upset, it is not as easy to do that.

Nonetheless, even the most meticulously thought-out vacations do not always wind up being what people thought they would be. While there is a time and a place to protest this, it is more often the best option to accept that certain factors are always going to be beyond the realm of personal control. Not every experience is going to be memorable in a good way.

In this story, a recently divorced woman decided to organize a girls' trip with friends. She invited five people, and as two initially turned down her offer, she booked a four bedroom Airbnb so that everybody who was coming could have their own room.
A month before the trip, one of the friends who had declined her offer at first decided that she wanted to join them after all, as plans for one of her solo vacations had fallen through. She was insistent that she should stay at the same house, even though this would mean sharing a bed.
The woman told her that she would have to make separate arrangements for accommodation, as everybody wanted to have their own space. She was upset at this, and the vacation planner was left wondering if she had crossed a line.
