When we were kids, we went grocery shopping with our moms and begged them to buy us anything with colorful packaging and sky-high sugar levels. Time passed, and now we're on a mission to be independent adults and run our own house, so we are inevitably forced to take care of the grocery list ourselves. And of course, we leave the store wondering how we spent so much on so little.

The thing is, you are supposed to buy the groceries… to cook them. Which is no small task. A big shout-out to all my amazing cooking TikTok friends for all your recipes. So glad to have you around. But I insist, cooking doesn’t mean just ‘cooking’. You also have to PLAN meals and make them fit your life schedule and your budget. Now I admire my mom for all her planning and cooking and juggling everything like a pro.

But it’s all part of the adulting combo. Adulting is fun. Soooo fun, right? So fun that now you have full responsibility for every tiny choice. You can’t turn a blind eye. But listen, it also comes with freedom, autonomy, and the satisfaction of figuring things out on your own. It’s all how you want it to be, and it feels good to create your own path.
I personally felt like an official adult when I got the electricity bill with my name on it. It was my before-and-after, my official adulting epiphany. But after all this deep thinking, I’ll just keep paying it lol.
