Mother in law dumps 7-year-old dog with daughter in law because of financial problems, then buys a cane corso puppy two days later, daughter in law says: ‘They couldn't afford a vet bill so they shouldn't be able to afford another puppy’

If you can't afford to care for a dog, would you go out and buy another one?

Anyone who tells you that dogs aren't expensive is lying to you. All of the individual things are not terribly expensive, a big bag of dog food is certainly more expensive than it used to be 20 years ago, but it's not going to break your bank account. But then you have to add in their pet insurance (you do have pet insurance, right?), shots, treats, dog walkers, and those unfortunate emergency vet visits that every pet pawrent dreads. At the end of the month, it's not cheap.

Not only is dog food more expensive, but the average price of a vet visit has also gone up. Even routine tests feel like they cost twice as much as they used to. As your doggo starts to get older, they will get sick more often, and you'll have to fork out some cash to keep them healthy with the help of trustworthy veterinarians.

Or so you would think.

You can also do what the MIL (mother-in-law) did below, which was to give away her 7-year-old dog, who hadn't been to the vet since she was 8-weeks-old, to her veterinarian DIL (daughter-in-law). Obviously, the dog was having some health problems, and MIL said that she couldn't afford the tests and vet visits. DIL graciously accepted to care for the doggo, and take care of her medical expenses.

Two days later, she got a call from her SIL (sister-in-law), saying that MIL bought a cane corso puppy.

Some people…. just shouldn't be allowed to own pets. We know that that's a hot take, but it's true. Unless you care for your pets like they are your human children, they are not being treated the way they should be. Just because they don't speak your language doesn't mean they can't communicate, and we find it hard to believe that this dog never once got sick or needed to go to the vet in 7 years.

There are some people who are “eternal victims”. In every scenario, the bad things happen to them, and it's never their fault. This pawfectly describes MIL. The world is against her. Her own DIL and son are against her. They're even turning her own daughter against her, all for a dog she supposedly “loves”. To say that she needs therapy is the understatement of the year.
