Shy stray cat crashes a kid's birthday party to ask for food, but ends up with a much better gift than a goody bag: ‘You helped him find his forever home.’

Suprise! You've got a cat.

It's the way so many cats find their forever homes. It's like… magic, and a cat appears out of nowhere. Some cats do that and then go, "I live here now and I'm going to love every minute of it. This is a threat." But some cats just appear, not even sure why and how, and the person sort of goes, "Well, I guess I have a cat now." And then you have cats like this one in the story below - they're an Oliver Twist sort of cat, just asking for a little bit of food. And not even that - they let their figure of skin and bones ask it for them. But eventually, this is the event that sets them in motion to find their forever home.

There are so many of these "accidental" adoptions that we're sure nothing else could cause them but the notorious CDS - the Cat Distribution System. No one is sure what they/it is, but they make their mysterious actions' result very clear - every cat in need of a home will be matched with the person to give them that. Whether by opening their own homes, ready to adopt another floofy soul into their family, or by being a relay point on the way.

Either way, we're just happy another stray cat got adopted. It's the way it should be.

    finding him hiding in a shed of the rec center and tried to lure him with a slice of pizza since it was the only thing left from the party.

  • Looking at this hug, we know this cat is in a safe space - which is much better than being on the streets, hungry, skinny, and looking for love and affection wherever he can, but being too shy to ask for it. The ideal place for a cat is under a safe roof, in the loving arms of a human, fed and cared for. Every cat deserves a home, and this guy is no different. But it just makes us very happy to know we can already be happy for him, despite reading about the hardships he had to endure until this point.

    got him scanned and he had no chip. Drove around to a few places (TNR facility, local spca) and was unable to get him looked at.

    Called an emergency vet and they suggested a urgent care that took walk ins and was a little bit cheaper than their vet fees

    The one pic of his paws was when I first got him. The vet thinks it was from rock salt from being out during the winter. We got a decent amount of snow this winter.

  • This person says it like it is - people can be CDS agents as well. As we said, a person can be a designated relay point for a cat to get better, fostered, and cared for, until they arrive at their purrmanent forever home. Even if you had a cat for a short time but helped them reach their actual home - you've made your mission, you've done your part. Congrats on doing the right thing.
