Woman's cat Willow crosses rainbow bridge, a few days later she sees a foster cat with the same name, showing how fate and the CDS work hand in hand

Willow came to us in November 2025 when the Cat Distribution System saw her appear in our subdivision. My wife came home
  • 03
from work, and saw her, and she said hello to her -- expecting her to run off-leading to Willow

running up to her and wanting held. There's no way she was even a year old at the time.
  • 06
We took her in, did all the steps (posted on local groups, had her scanned and no microchip found, etc.) and tried to find her owners.

No dice. But days in, I was enamored, we named her, and we kept her. The CDS had delivered us a cat.

Just one problem: We already had five cats. Willow was the sixth, and she didn't like other cats. We tried to integrate, we took it slow,
  • 11
but no matter what we did, it didn't work. Willow was too much of a solo kitty. My wife wanted to
  • 12
do more, but I was listening to Willow and knew it was pointless to try anymore.
  • 13
In February, we made the transition from pawrents to fostering Willow. There was nothing wrong with Willow, and
  • 14
she had a clean bill of health at the vet, and we had her spayed/microchipped relatively quickly, but we knew for her to
  • 15
live her best life, we had to find a new home. Having her isolated in my office wasn't fair to her, to us,
  • 16
or the other cats that couldn't freely see me anymore when I was in the office.
  • 17
We contacted a rescue shelter for help in advertising her online under their banner. We adopted
  • 18
two cats from them previously, and they helped us out. We then played the waiting game and really had a lot of silence.
  • 19
Then yesterday came. We got word an approved application came in. I got the prospect's info.
  • 20
I called her in the late afternoon. Turns out, this woman lost her cat three days earlier due to an illness, and she was looking
  • 21
online and came across Willow. She stood out among other cats because of her name -- the deceased cat was also named Willow.
  • 22
I agreed to do a meet and greet, and we said the heck with it and did it last night. We drove to the
  • 23
woman's home so there would be no other cats around. When we got there, Willow absolutely shined. Was quick to explore,
  • 24
play, get onto perches, everything. We knew a fit had been found. We left Willow there and came home.

I write this with a mix of sadness and happiness. I am sad because I miss Willow and just wished she liked other cats, because she was
  • 26
such a snugglebug and really was the bestest kitty. But she hated other cats, and was now somewhere that she could truly
  • 27
be free, and had everything she wanted in the world (as I saw with my own eyes), and that made me happy for her, and her new pawrent.
  • 28
I attached pictures of Willow I took over the past few months to share how beautiful she is. Her name will change for obvious
  • 29
reasons, but she will always be Willow to me. It just breaks my heart she couldn't stay with us, but it's for the best. Plus, the
  • 30
experience told me I am a terrible foster parent because I can't deal with the outcomes emotionally because I get too attached.
