At its heart, the Divine Comedy is about transformation. It's about moving from confusion, fear, and suffering toward understanding, peace, and ultimately divine love. The structure of that journey is ubiquitous to everything and everyone on earth. Even cats embody a version of it. In a strange way, a stray cat's homelessness and starvation resembles Dante’s descent into darkness: a world defined by fear and struggle. A rescued cat slowly learning safety mirrors the movement through Purgatory. The cat hesitates at first, unsure whether comfort can be trusted. The new owner is akin to Virgil, in that he guides Dante towards heaven and the owner guides the cat to a loving home. Then of course, when the cat is purrfectly comfortable, he's in Paradise with his love Beatrice (the owner). Enjoy these silly cats going on their own journey.
