  • [My] parents brought their dog to my backyard wedding party

Got married yesterday (micro-wedding*) style. Had a BBQ style dinner in our backyard that evening with the family who attended. I have a dog who likes to be around people and loves
  • the attention/pets so he was outside with us. My parents have a dog, who everytime they bring over to my house attacks my dog in some way. It's
  • a small little Maltese like dog so never actually causes any real damage to mine, but always gets Imad and gets aggressive towards mine at some point during the visit. My.
  • parents decided they just had to bring it over to the party, without even warning me. Behold the first five minutes their dog went after mine, like we all knew would happen.

  • What made it worse is my dog was sitting on my grandpa's (also elderly) girlfriend's lap, putting hwr in the middle of it. She loves dogs so didn't make a big deal,
  • but my mom then proceeded to have meltdown and tried to take the embarrassment off herself saying it was my dog's fault for starting it. I told my
  • parents they are welcome to use my dog's crate for theirs to keep it contained and safe. My mom then continued to mope around the rest of the time and then left early,
  • also forcing my dad to leave. AIO my parents brought their dog to a wedding celebration party like this at my house when they knew
  • their dog and mine weren't going to get along? And then trying to guilt me for it at my own wedding?

  • to make it worse I have a 2yr old I was trying to manage throughout this entire day. Because I was with her in the bathroom at the time, I didn't even witness this.
  • And then they decided to make the whole night about feeling sorry for themselves, my husband and I then proceeded to deal with making the food, serving everyone,
  • watching our toddler, manage our own dog who we had to put inside after, and somehow socialize/be hosts because they offered zero assistance
  • *updated from the word elopement, apologies where I live people commonly have been using this term to describe this situation as a small family only wedding despite me knowing the actual
