The crazy of cats and people is a purrfect match.

From the dawn of time, people had their crazies - the king's jester, the witch at the end of the village, the Florida Man. All are examples that demonstrate just how coo-coo humanity is. It doesn't matter the time in history (we're sure there were plenty of crazy people before written history as well), and it doesn't matter the place or the culture (it's an all-Earth thing). And that's why, when you really think about it, crazy cat people aren't that crazy after all.

There's a tendency in society to tag crazy cat people as legitimately insane - choosing to care for a bazillion of cats, investing time, effort, and money to make sure they're alright. But when you put it like this, it doesn't actually sound that crazy. Caring for cats that you love isn't an abnormality - it's the most natural thing a person can do. And you don't have to be a crazy cat person to agree with this statement.

And then you have the comparison to other such crazy people, who might be the legitimately insane personas we think about. It's not crazy cat people - it's the people who decided to train lions at the circus in the 19th century (thankfully illegal in most of the world today), it's the people who end up "winning" a Darwin Award, it's the people who… don't like cats.

As it happens, being a crazy cat person isn't that crazy after all. But then there's the extra factor of cats… cats are crazy, man. It's no wonder that people who are associated with cats get this label. But then again, we already established they're not as crazy as society makes them out to be. They just willingly choose to deal with cats' craziness tenfold (which is, admittedly, a little bit crazy).
We can't underestimate cats' coo-coo behaviors, because some are legit not normal. Zoomies at 3:42 AM? Well, maybe they saw a ghost and are just running after it to banish it to the other side. Staring at a blank wall for two hours? Maybe their brain short-circuited and they need a reboot. Stopping mid-run to lick their left leg? Very important, apparently.
Cats are just as crazy as people, but crazy cat people aren't really that crazy after all.
